Real quick as a test I took the unrestored Bendix radio and put it in front of the hippo chassis on my kitchen counter. It has a little hum but that could also be because the caps in it are 70 years old or more, but it doesn't have that blow your head off hum that the hippo has. This is more like the am hum I expect. it even has a damaged antenna but still picks up most of the stations. Going to go replace the filters on the hippo in the basement later on.
