Getting close to the veneer repair stage.  Can anyone with a more trained eye tell me what wood this is?  I know walnut is pretty common, but not sure.  My uneducated guess is that this would be lightly-figured walnut.  I was thinking about fill sticks on the side with the tiny missing pieces along the bottom and maybe even wholesale replacement on the other side where so much is missing/lifted, but could be swayed.
