Hi Roy, your cabinet looks terrific. Refinishing can be a tedious process especially using rattle cans. I, who hates doing cabinet work, had problems getting the finish on my Philco 37-116 to where I liked it. Probably spray equipment with a compressor and spray gun would be ideal but since I don’t foresee me having another floor model radio here, I can’t justify a huge outlay of money for such equipment. I know what you mean about waterslide decals being finicky to work with. They wrinkle or fold over on themselves and tear easily. I had success using a soft bristle brush to dab and work the decals into position and flatten out any folds or wrinkles and then spray a coat or two of lacquer over to seal them in. In my case I attached a dolly to the bottom of the cabinet so I could roll it out onto my deck for any spraying as my wife is super sensitive to odors so everything had to be done outside and then after it dried and the odor subsided I could wheel it in by the end of the day!
