This thing would not stay aligned. Would align it and 790 would be dead on a few days later it was at 840, next day 870 and jumped to 910 while I was listening to it. WWV(H) went from 15 to 15.4.
Tried to realign it several times but it would jump again.
Was about ready to take the RF subchassis out. Thought I would try measuring the LO at the grid cap of the mixer (6L7G) LO freq looked ok so why wont it work??? Woops now 790 is at 730!!
So I replaced the wire from the tuning gang to the grid of the 6L7G and realigned it and its stable and dead on on all bands. Seems the solder joint was bad on the grid cap connector, and the LO didn't like the changing load.
6' of wire for an antenna and I was listening to the voice of Russia on 15.425 (great classical music) and at dusk I was getting WWV and WWVH at the same time on 5 and 15 MHz. Wonder what this would do with a proper antenna?
