The only issues I have with alot of the tube sets from the mid 50's on are those circuit boards they used. My friend had a late 60's set die recently because of that. He went to replace a couple suspect tubes and the board just crumbled. 
Now the 60's Zenith sets are fairly rugged and durable, but watch the convergence rings on the color sets!
