Well, Arran, in this case, the rust spots on the chrome weren't entirely Scott's fault. It doesn't help when mice have been hanging around your Philharmonic. And I think we all know what mouse urine can do to a chassis, especially one that wasn't chrome plated. In this case, I think the chrome plating saved the amp/power supply so that it still looks decent. I think if it had not been chrome plated, it would have already rusted through in places.
I am still amazed that none of the connecting cables were chewed, nor the speaker cone - even though I found the remains of a long-dead mouse inside the speaker pedestal.
