Philco rack (training aid)
#1

Hi,

During my military training (mid sixties) to become a radar technician in one of the practical labs a training aid was used. This equipment was referred to, as far as i remember, as the ‘Philco rack’. It comprised of a couple of about 3 by 1,5 feet metal racks in which all kind of units could be fitted. These units were all kind of basic electronic circuits (amplifier, oscillators, even thyristor circuits and wave guide parts). The resistors and capacitors could easily be replaced to perform all kind of measurements or experiments.

Now I tried to find some information on this equipment on the internet but was not successful. However I found this forum. And given the name of the rack I ask the question here. Can anybody give me or refer me to information on the internet of this training aid.
BTW I found a picture of some military in training with in the background the equipment I am talking about. This picture is attached.
