Hi

Model 39-116 was not manufactured with a loop antenna; it was designed for a longwire. Of course the "Mystery Control" section of the receiver DOES have a loop antenna, built into the bottom of the cabinet.

Some people have made their own in-cabinet loops for consoles. Some of these folks report good results. YMMV. I would opt for the longwire, or at least a short length of wire stretched across the baseboard of one or two walls.
