Hi Chris
Ah, the clueless ebay sellers that do not give a D**n about anything except collecting the $$$. Frustrating, isn't it? Especially when you suggest to them how to pack, even offer extra $$ for extra packaging...and they ignore you anyway and just throw it in a box with minimal (or sometimes NO) packing material. Far too many eBay sellers fall into this category, unfortunately. Of course, I think just ONE incident like this is too many. One man's opinion. That's all.
Never believe anyone who says the radio "works" unless you know the seller personally, or by reputation, to be an honest person. I have found that in the world of most eBayers, "working" means "the tubes light up and the dial lamp lights up and it may or may not smoke but I won't tell you that part."
How about some photos? Would you be willing to divulge the eBay item number so we can all see what you bought? This will help in determining if the cabinet is salvageable.
