That was already tried mechanically, and the part frozen was the actual
cap, not the reduction mechanism, which was badly damaged. I need a
new cap, or I'm going to have to rebuild the reduction. The pinion
gear (brass) has damaged teeth, and the driven gear and tensioner
now are missing a couple of teeth. I can easily reverse the pinion gear
and use the other end, likely, but the driven gear and tensioner
are likely goners.
