Finally enjoying my 111!
#1

I finally got the tube shield and over-load issue figured out on my 111 console. Turned out one of the type 24 tubes was the culprit as well as the local distance switch still having something in it causing it to not want to make contact all the time. Now this historic Philco lowboy works like it should and is a very sensitive receiver. Also has a good bit of bass when you actually can find a station in my area that has it.
This also is a relief as I now know for sure that my friend's speaker cone swap worked. The original cone had turned into a stiff rock for some reason and was brittle, so we swapped an earlier canvas cone from a dead speaker that was with a model 87 chassis he found. Worked quite well and sounds good! Icon_thumbup

No matter where you go, there you are.
