As a follow-up, I tried the antenna on the radio this afternoon and it does improve reception by removing excess noise on many AM stations that I tuned in. I also have a GE Superadio II which is a pretty decent receiver. It cannot match the performance of the Philco 40-201 tuned to some of the same stations. It speaks pretty well of a 73 year old design approach. I brought the SW high band antenna in from the cabinet and had to replace one lead and a missing terminal lug on one lead. With this loop attached I have good signals on the highest SW band. The electrostatic shield plus orientation by rotation brings in the best signal on AM broadcast and the police band low end where the upper end of the AM broadcast band is covered on this radio.
