Nice chassis paint
#1

Hi,
I have been removing rust and dust from a 40-195 chassis for a few days now. I sprayed the chassis with a primer to get it ready for the final spray coats. I visited Home Depot and Lowes. Purchased some spray paint at Lowes and after spraying the chassis it just did not look authentic. So this morning I had some errands to run and groceries to buy at Wal-Mart. I figured I would check out their spray paint, I REALLY doubted there would be anything good at all. Oh my I was wrong. They have a GREAT match for my Philco. The brand is Krylon and the color is "nickel." After lightly spraying the topside of the chassis I flipped the old girl over and this paint is almost an exact match to the underside which is still in great shape.

I wanted to put this on the phorum to maybe spare someone the pain in the neck of going from hardware store to hardware store to hardware store. Rochester is 50 miles from me and that is the closest to Home Depot or Lowes I am. My Wal-Mart is 18 miles away. Still a considerable distance for just spray paint but I wish I would have checked there first. Since it is Krylon paint I imagine it is available in other places. I should buy a case to keep on hand. First time in years that I have found a GREAT match.

As always I would recommend to spray a small test area to make sure it matches your particular radio. Have a Great Day. Icon_biggrin
