If it's a table model radio / phono combo, are you sure you don't mean model 48-1256? There wasn't a 46-1256. There was a 46-1226 console radio / phono. The first two digits of your model number indicate the year of manufacture of your set.
At any rate, regardless of which model you have, more than likely the cartridge is bad. You may be able to find a suitable replacement here: http://www.thevoiceofmusic.com/
