The model 20 with the dark shading around the edges probably wasn't as dark as that originally. I've noticed that when lacquer gets dirty, or isn't well kept, it gets dark and almost opaque like that. It's interesting that even though they are both early version model 20s that one would have such a different treatment to the cabinet then the other. Maybe the style of finish was optional, or maybe it had to do with the production run? I've noticed that there are variations in shading with lot of sets, maybe it depended the preferences of the finisher working on the cabinets on a given day, or how much tinted lacquer they had and of what shade?
