I'm going to go ahead and add the dark accent to the flutes. It is much easier to do it now rather than wait until the cabinet is finished.

I masked off the edges, sprayed two coats of clear to seal the wood, then sprayed the dark toner.

The toner has been sanded off the face of the columns.

I have drilled the columns and arch for dowels.

The columns have been glued to the arch.

This is the piece that goes across the bottom. I have cut a cope on the ends to match the edge profile of the columns.
