I have no doubt they did some minor modifications. The only thing I see potentially missing from that area is a pair of 0.01 uF caps between the transformer and AC in (unless they are up in the transformer?) based on this portion of the schematic.

From what I see, I should be able to simply tie in the motor in the fashion I described.. correct?
