Philco 16B Band 5 problem
#1

Hello everyone, I have a Philco 16B (Code 121) tombstone radio I have restored and it is working great except for the 5th band where from 11 MHz to 13.5 MHz there is no reception--oscillator is not working. From 13.5 to 23 MHz it is working like it should and WWV is right on 15 MHz. I checked the 76 oscillator tube and it is good and I reduced the value of the 50K resistor to 33Kohms on the plate circuit of the 76 tube but no change. I also subbed out the .0007 MF capacitor--still no change and I cleaned the bandswitch. I checked the cathode resistor and it checks out ok (510 ohms) All other bands work properly. I have read this was an issue with this chassis. Has anyone successfully fixed this problem with the oscillator dropout issue? Thanks, Ken
