And here is a shot of the chassis with the re-stuffed caps in place, and the new cord installed.

I attached a spool of antenna wire. I slowly powered it up on the variac, and didn't get anything, then I realized the variac wasn't plugged in.
I plugged it in, and tried again. I wasn't sure which thumbscrew to attach the antenna to. 1st attempt, I got audio, but no radio signals, so I powered down and tried the other screw. Upon power-up, I immediately got static, so I dialed across the band. Everything came in on the dial where it should, so I didn't perform an alignment. For this video, I attached a 12 foot length of wire, and plugged it into my outside wire which runs 50-75 feet out in the backyard. This is a little cheap 4-tuber, so it doesn't have AVC. It's really obvious as I tune across the dial....

Since I'm fixing the images from Photobucket, here's an update: A "studio shot" of it all back together and done.

Looks good Jeff
Since you live in CA you should buy a set of Floyd Paul's 3 booklets,
Los Angeles Radio Manufacturing, The First Twenty Years:

You might find a picture of your set in one of his books, they're very informative.
