38-4xx: did these have a back originally

Hi all, was wondering if somebody could tell me if the 38-4xx console originally had a back on it. I have one that someone put a masonite back on. Obviously not original equipment. Also has no venting. Just a solid board. Probably should at least have a few vent holes, right?

Thanks Ron. Were they masonite or some cardboard type of material? Also would like to know what it looked like. Maybe I could cut this one to match.

If you do a search for 38-116XX back or 38-690XX back, the 38-4XX back looked basically the same as those two - only sized to fit that cabinet.

I think the originals were closer to masonite than cardboard, although they have a texture somewhat similar to cardboard. Surviving original backs are very fragile and easily broken.

Found it. Man, there's a lot of holes in that thing. Still, looks doable. May give it a try. Thanks again. Ed
