Picked this up Tuesday when I went to pick up a Rada Chron cathedral and a Patterson tombstone. I had no idea the guy had this. After using a "call to a friend" to ask Kirk if he'd ever seen one of these, and with his prodding, I took it with me (thanks Kirk!!). I gave it a quick GoJo cleaning to get the crud off.
This radio looks like the chairside version of the 45 "Butterfly" table radio. Many of the same styling cues in the grille, etc....
Looks like the knobs should be the hex type? Anyone have a set of them? I'd like to buy new grille cloth and put it away, even though it'll be some time before it gets restored. I know there are two companies making it, but which is the closest match?
I can't seem to find any pictures online, except the one on our gallery page with a different model number.
Does anyone have one of these?
(Edited title to add Philco)

I LOVE it!
Make sure you give Ron the pics for the philco website!
I am sure I have a set of hex knobs but lets make sure before. Someone will know...
3 Big ol rare radios in one swipe.. NICE!
I told you not to ask me
I'm a YES man....
I am jealous but what a horrible design! Beautiful to look at but dont spill a drink..
I bet thats why they didnt make too many, or why there arent so many left,
Kenny Richmond has the most accurate. yours looks lighter but it can be faded.. Check an area where it was glued. That will show the true color. There is one on ebay that is lighter.

Anyone have any info on this set? Still hoping to confirm the type of knobs it needs. Wondering why this model doesn't show when searched.
Ron, can you help with this one? Thanks!

Really cool looking chairside. Hope Ron can provide some info. on it.
That's one of the first searches on a philco radio that can up with no information.

It is listed here:
http://philcoradio.com/gallery/1935c.htm#e
but only has a poor quality picture because no one has ever offered photos of this model to me.
It should have the black Philco hex knobs - the large one for tuning, medium size for the other three.
That is a great find and a seldom seen set!

Ron,
Thanks so much for the help! When I get the right knobs on it, I'll contact you about getting pics to you. I'll start with Kirk for the knobs, since he is to blame for this thing being here! Whose chevron speaker cloth would you recommend for this radio?
Mike and Bob,
Thanks. Glad to add this one to my collection!
Steve
(edited: Guess I should have re-read Kirk's posting. I'll order some speaker cloth from Kenny Richmond)

Here's Ron's list of knob suppliers: http://www.philcoradio.com/resourceb.htm#l
I've bought something from all except Kelton. Mike, Julie and Dave specialize in knobs.

Thanks Bob,
I've tried contacting Julie three different times in the past year, with no response. Right now, Kirk is checking to see what he has.

hmmmm... try Mike Koste, I know he's around, I saw him on the Phorum a few days ago. I think these on ebay might be the medium black hex knobs Ron mentioned you need.

Here's a set of four Philco hex knobs pulled from a Philco 29X on the auction site:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/331787552327
The price is ridiculous, but this will clearly illustrate what you need. They will be much cheaper from Mike, Julie, Kelton, or Dave.

Ron;
Another reason not to buy from this guy, aside from his Walton Brand Z knob style pricing, at least for a non U.S resident and I quote:
We DO NOT ship international packages as gifts or mark them as -0- value. Period.
Great, then I will never bid on or buy anything from you, PERIOD, if your misguided sensibilities won't allow you to accommodate a non U.S buyer in purchasing your overpriced merchandise. The U.S government doesn't care whether the Canadian, Australian, British, or Northern Rhodesian government don't get their cut, why should you?
Regards
Arran

Got the right knobs from Mike Koste (thanks for the reminder, Bob) on Saturday. Now it looks right! I need three screws and the rings the screws seat into for the speaker panel. Anyone have those. They look like a brown finish. I know nickel or chrome ones are available.
Ron
Let me know which pics you want or take them from my posts, if that can be done. Let me know where to send them, if I need to.

Drool! The 29CSX is a model that is high on my want list. They don't seem to be very common.
