There were no resistors in the box in 111 (about the same).

Can someone confirm whether my drawing of connections is correct or not. Help. Still waiting on my .5 mfd caps to arrive then this puppy is done.

What I do not know if the 111/211 block is identical, 87 does not have drawing. I did label the wires when I cut off the block. However though this does help, I mostly used the drawing together with the schematic. This makes sure the caps are eventually connected to the right circuits and some light mods may be helpful as todays caps are different size and geometry. Your welcome! Don't really care for the cabinet as the edges have no toning. Looks rather bare. I have two of those style sets an 87 and 95. I don't have a good full pic of either but here's the 87 from the top. https://www.flickr.com/photos/53710524@N...hotostream Terry

I totally agree with you on the cabinet, we have a three man team working on many radios and one of are guys does the cabinets. He does a great job but not traditional style. When I do my 87 it will be as close to traditional as possible . I'm also going to refinish my Philco 116X this summer and it will by the book. Thanks for all the help from you and everyone else that payed attention to this post.

I've got two of those too, kinda of by default. A member here had one of sale and it came with a spare chassis, spkr, and resonators but no cabinet. Picked it all up wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with the spares till I was cruising epay and found a cabinet! Both cabinets need to be refinishing. It's one of my favorite console styles from 1936. I just need to get motivated to get the chassis in good repair. https://www.flickr.com/photos/53710524@N...ateposted/ Help I'm addict!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too far gone Terry

I remember that dungeon. Many, many radios are kept there praying and awaiting in vain for their liberation.
Once in a while Terry goes down there, looks over them, gives out an evil laugh and goes back. And then the darkness falls again. People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Finished the re-cap today and applied power and almost all is well. I say almost because the volume control needs cleaning. Do i treat this control like any other with deoxit or is there some method i should follow.

Whats the chances of this Aerovox capacitor being bad?

If the control is anything like in 111 (it might be), where there is a cardboard carbon-coated band goes around forming a cylinder, with a brass wheel rolling on it for a wiper, be careful with it. Do not wipe it with anything; if it exhibits acceptable end-to-end resistance, spray the Green can Deoxit and/or put a little of Deoxit/Lithium grease mix around the brass wheel.
Avoid cleaning the resistive element itself. If possible at all, do not touch it. People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Any cap could get bad. Some more readily than others.
