Philco 40-150 Code 121 Antenna ?
#1

I am working on a Philco 40-150 code 121. There is some confusion about the antenna part number. The Parts List has a 38-9894 part number for the Loop a**'y ( Broadcast ). The set has P 38-9994 Loop a**'y ( Broadcast ) on it. Does anyone have the schematic for the P 38-9994 and will it work on the Philco 40-150 code 121 radio?

Thank you,

Could you clarify what a**'y means in your post? It shows up twice.

Thanks,

The schematic for the loop antenna shows in the upper left hand corner of the radio schematic.
By the way, the dotted lines around the loop indicate it's a shielded loop. Helps with cutting down interference.

The differences in the parts numbers is probably just a factory production change only.

I apologize for the typo. It was supposed to be a**'y for assembly. The color of the wires are faded. I would like to know which terminals to connect the four wires coming from the P 38-9994 antenna correctly to the radio.

Thank you.

Sorry. I used an apostrophy between the 2nd s and the y. It was Philco s abbreviation for assembly. No apostrphe s allowed.
a** y.

Oh, I see now. The bad word filter here in the Phorum does not like the letter a followed by two of the letter s, as this spells a bad word, even if it is part of a longer word or embedded in the middle.

The P 38-9994 antenna does not match the schematic diagram. There is a lead connected to the top of 1a and 1b ( capacitor and resistor in parallel ) . That connection is not shown on the schematic. Also the capacitor 1C is fixed on the schematic and is variable on the P 38-9994 antenna. I am having a time trying to figure out how to connect the antenna correctly. The bottom end of the 1a and 1b in parallel is connected to an antenna terminal on the back of the antenna.

There is another antenna terminal to the right of the radio on the apron of the chassis.

Thanks,

I am very sorry. I did not mean to be crude or otherwise. I will be careful from now on and not use an A followed by two S letters. That's what I get for trying to copy Philco.

I was able find the information on the P - 38 -9994 antenna in the Philco Publications at the Museum where I volunteer.

Thanks to all for help and suggestions.

If you ever need to replicate the main (AM) loop antenna for the 40-150 or 40-155, instructions may be found here:
