10 radio cabinet restoration chronicles
#16

not a stupid question at all. He's talking about using rottenstone as the final polish on the lacquer. see: http://www.mohawk-finishing.com/catalog_...ictNbr=242

of course morzh is just throwing rotten tomatoes around Icon_lol

Rotten stone, sometimes spelled as rottenstone, also known as tripoli, is fine powdered porous rock used as a polishing abrasive for metal smithing and in woodworking. It is usually weathered limestone mixed with diatomaceous, amorphous, or crystalline silica.

Great for those piano finishes..

Very nice work Kirk! Until 6 months ago there was a gentleman that would do my cabinets. He was very reasonable. He passed away in April. Now I am going to have to do this myself if I can't find someone else . I used to work in a furniture repair place when I was in high school. I learned a few things but 35 years put that a long way behind me.

If I could find the place called "Somewhere", I could find "Anything" Icon_confused

Finally started pumicing and rotting the cabinets for the finishing touch...

I just finished the Utah speaker cabinet but I have 2 of them so I have to match the other one...
I actually need to make a back for one too....
