There's info on the 288 but looks like your set is an amputee.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

I have never seen a zenith cabinet like that, I'm thinking it may be custom cabinet made for that radio. Now theres a cathedral cabinet made for that chassis I believe. Just doesent look like a factory cabinet .

The 288 is a great performer, but I've never seen one in anything except the big art-deco tombstone cabinet:

Unfortunately, like Terry said, it looks like your cabinet is an amputee.

I'll look through my Zenith literature later today and make sure I don't see a console version.

The 288's aren't too easy to find.  I sold one about 20 years ago and almost immediately regretted it.  Since then I have only seen two for sale and one of those I bought.

Look at the ad that you put up, I think it says available in two console versions.

Good eye Joe!  Since I can't find a console 288 in any of my Zenith literature, I wonder if the that store was putting the chassis in custom cabinets for customers?

Skip, it looks like your set managed to keep all six of the factory knobs!
