#1

Is this a real Philco or a Phranken Transitone?

No other pics yet. he said the chassis looks like a PT-25

You gotta quit hanging around over there [Image: http://philcoradio.com/phorum/images/smi..._smile.gif]
Best guess is that it's a CA model or a homemade cab.
As for the model it doesn't matter much all of those
Transitones are pretty much the same, exception
being the Philco /Simplex model(s).

...actually many of the Simplex/Philco Transitones are the same.

That is not a factory Philco cabinet. Simplex? No idea but I doubt it.

Could be a third party cabinet, or even an exceptionally well done homemade cabinet. Maybe this was originally in a Bakelite cabinet and the original owner broke the original cabinet and did this (or had it done)?

It resembled the late 30's philco grills so I thought there might be a chance at it being correct.

The Simplex I was thinking of is a trf set.

Poor cabinet.  Doesn't look anything like Al Franken.  You should be ashamed!   Icon_mrgreen  Really, the cabinet is reminiscent of a Sparton.  Joe

Are there any pictures of the back? I thought that I might ask as there are some Canadian Philcos that have different cabinets from the U.S models. The only other thing I can think of is that it might be a cabinet for a Motorola or some other brand that has a similar knob and dial layout.

The dial and knob spacing looks like the chassis could be a 39-652, PT-33, PT-25, PT-61, or a PT-39.  The cabinet could be as Arran says, a Canadian version...?
