Wow - amazing. You really brought it back to life.

i think the very last thing would be to fab up a proper antenna shorting bar instead of the twisted wire look.
that units too good to be sporting the antenna terminals like that.

Nice job, Fred.

I don't know what you mean on the antenna shorting bar, the terminals for antenna is factory installed. Are you referring to a resistor between the screw terminals?

Thanks Russ for complementing me on my restoration, you know several years ago looking at your website and all the great restorations you have done inspired me to get results from my work to look like yours. You do excellent work on your radios . I am getting a lot better on my veneer work and still working on veneering so I can master it from scratch. there are many different types of wood out there and getting better at recognizing those. I'm restoring a rare Stewart Warner 1271 tombstone and going replace the veneer on that one, got some African rose (Bubinga) wood for the front section but may have chosen the wrong kind but going to use it anyway . Looks like it may have been Quilted Maple but the rosewood is so close and beautiful. This will be a good test for me doing the whole front will the grill cutouts, going to take my time so it lloks perfect

Fred, You will probably never know how much that means to me. Thank you.

Your work is top notch, but most of all, your desire to preserve these historic pieces, accurately, is exceptional.

If you are teamed up with a chassis tech who shares these values, you will have no shortage of customers.

Russ

P.S. sorry for the "bro-mance". That will be all.

That looks better than the day it left the factory!

I know this is an old thread, but a great one, Crist said speechless so am I. I just started a restoration project on this same radio. The cabinet needs refinishing, it is in good physical condition. The chassis on the other hand needs lots of work. Stuart Little lived here. The field coil is open, needs a tuner belt. The chassis needs a good cleaning and a paint job. Tuner needs to be soaked and cleaned, top of the chassis is yuk! I restored a Zenith chairside, the 6S137 will be much tougher than the chairside.
