Sure, This speaker had 2 Cutouts on side of the part that covered the Field Coil Assembly..

Can see in photos below..

I was able to move the field coil enough to find the two ends of the wires and was able to solder to then and hook up to the terminals..

I didn't think the field coil would spin But it did..

I think that this is one of the speakers that have the FC cover held on by bolts that are at the bottom of the basket. They may also hold the spider in place. Easy to get to when the cone is gone, really tough otherwise.

Ok, Question on Dial.. Can I clean dial using water and soap.. Or will the Lettering come off like some Philco Radios.. What would you use.. Mine is in Great shape but very dirty..

Soap and water should be fine. Don't use Windex or solvents.

Ok power up good. B+ voltage about 330 Volts All looks good.

Was able to tune in many stations using only about a 5 foot wire..

Very happy with sound.. Plenty of volume..

OK now on to the Cabinet.. I do not think I will tackle it have a place only about 2 miles from me that does cabinets.. I will take it to him to see how much he wants to do it.. Hopefully not to much..

Thanks all for help getting this up and running..

Reproduction Grille Cloth

Merry Tunes Antique Radios and Parts - They have several different patterns of cloth; not very many Philco patterns, though.

Radio Daze - Offers a growing selection of reproduction grille cloth for the vintage radio collector.

Retrospecialist - A seller of grille cloth in the UK.

Richmond Designs, Inc. - Currently carries replacement cloth for some Philco, Zenith, and other radios. Excellent quality!

Speaker Fabric Supply - Several generic cloth patterns, no specific Philco cloth patterns.

Also search eBay for grille cloth.

That refinishing job is terrible for work supposedly done by a pro, it looks like they smeared oil stain all over it with how blotchy it is, and used paint rather then tinted lacquer. As for the gloss, probably another guy that didn't get the memo that satin finish is the wrong choice for radio cabinets, not sure if they used grain filler though.

I'm pretty sure the grille cloth in that set was a Herringbone design.  Kenny Richmond sells both the large and small Herringbone pattern, butI think the small is more accurate for your set.

I agree with the cabinet not being good.. Thats what I get for going to someone that doesn't know what they are doing.. But he was local and sign said Cabinet refinishing.. I also gave him my Philco 70 Cabinet that the front was broken That was I mistake also.. He said he could repair the front.. I will take a few pictures and post. What a Horrible job looks like crap..

So Silly me...

I think he made it look worse than before the attempted repairs. You could buy a front panel from Steve Davis, a little sanding and filling on the edge you should be able to fix it yourself.
It looks like a good cabinet to refinish.
