*Solved Minerva Tropic Master model w117 "early"-crackle pop & no vol ****SOLVED

I believe springy material on brake lines is to reduce vibration, lessens chance of a rub through. Older vehicles like my '69 Cobra Jet didn't use them, but my '72 Comet does have wrap on lines.

wiper to ground reads about 7 ohms this time, sometimes its 10, others is 2 and other times its like 20 but still low enough.

so... the ref gnd signal is stable enough to not be the fault for this.

it could be several things.

i tried calibrating down in resistivity of the 47kohm R after the wiper,, still have sound with vol at Min.

i think i will just live with it.

this bugger gets really HOT on the outside,,

headed out to put it back inside its carry case after i add my antenna relay back on.
i am considering a 120 v small fan to mount inside it....

new cooling fan in,,, now that really took care of the heat.


air intake is in the "back door"
air hits ceiling and goes left and right out the side louvers.

i really want to add a couple things to this set

i want an S meter

i want a BFO even if its a gimick type.
i am getting a lot of side band in addtion to shortwave

i am going to start with the gimmick BFO type for side band if anyone has suggestions.

i know i will need another tuning cap which i have several.

from there i will need a knob on the tuning cap which i have.

i can string up and make a 0-100 scale which will be visible in the lower part of the main tuning window just below the words printed "tropic master".

how do i wire in such a thing?
do i attempt to copy cat the gimmick from my hallicrafters S38-d which actually works really great!.

any ideas or anyone experienced in doing this?

Hello friends, I loved seeing all the work in this rarity of 1944, I have a radio of this model here and I need to restore it, it is not as beautiful as this one on the topic, what was written in most components has worn out over time, I need to replace components mainly capacitors, I don't have his technical documentation, if any of your friends know of a site that I can download, please let me know, thank you very much !.
