Philco 37-620 equivalents
#1

Hi from Down Under.

I have been asked to restore a Philco 37-620 radio, but found the chassis to be totally gutted.

Been looking for an exact replacement from the States but till now have not found one.

Is there any other model chassis that will fit without any mods??

Can you point me to someone who may be able to supply a chassis, speaker and full set of knobs??

Hope somebody can help.

Greetings!

The following Philco chassis will fit without modifications:

37-610, 37-611, 37-620, 37-630, 37-640, 37-2620.

I purposely left battery-operated chassis out of the above list as I assume you want something that will operate from the AC mains. Also, you are probably aware of this but the USA-manufactured sets were designed to operate on 110-115 volts AC. You'll need to switch transformers or use an external transformer that will drop your 240 volt AC mains to the old USA 110-115 volt standard. (Our line voltages are now up to around 125 volts in this country.)

I have no idea where you might find a complete chassis with speaker. These come up on eBay with fair regularity. Another thought is to find a compete set with a bad or otherwise unrestorable cabinet.
