Removing mask from tuning dial model 16
#1

How do I  remove the melted shadow meter mask that dripped  onto the tuning dial of my 16B?
I know that I have seen it mentioned before on the phorum. I am just worried about breaking the dial. Do I just try to pick it off?
Should I warm it up a little first?  This radio must have sat for a long time with the dial fully closed and the mask melted and dripped down in globs keeping the dial from turning. At first I thought the dial string was too loose and then I pushed the dial in enough while turning to get by the drips.
I just want to make it more presentable in case it goes to the next swap meet in NH.
                                                                         Thanks,
                                                                             Henry

I have just carefully picked it off previously, and it turned out OK. Some mineral spirits might help. DON'T USE WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID! Mineral spirits have been proven to not remove the printing from those translucent dial scales...as long as you don't heavily scrub the numbering, that is...

I guess that's what I will do then.
           Thanks Ron,
