2nd IF Transformer Question
#1

Good morning all, I’m working on my 60L and have been going though the transformers. Yesterday I rewound the primary on the oscillator: The antenna looked and tested great. The 1st IF tested to the specs on the schematic,  but the 2nd IF tested bad unless the schematic is incorrect. It shows values of 34 ohms and 85 ohms and mine tests out at 35 and 46. Is the 85 on the schematic incorrect or is the one winding bad? If it is bad can I rewind it? If so what size wire and how many turns? Thank you!

I would test it in operation prior to doing anything else. It is probably OK. They are tough to rewind.

Thank you sir, that’s what I will do then. What symptoms would I see if it is not great?

It will either work or it won't. Won't meaning - No or very low level to the 2nd detector stage - unable to tune.

That kind of winding on a secondary can sometimes have corrosion problems but there isn't usually much current so they don't burn open like a primary. SOMETIMES the tuning (caps) can be the problem.

It is rarely n RF coils that there's continuity and it is bad.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Ok, sounds good. I’ll see how it does once I get it all back together. Thank you both for your input.
