I have one that will be restoring soon, once I'm done with the H500.
This should be an easy radio to tackle, the twistlock restuffng (and even that is only if choose to, else there are replacements sold) being the most involved operation.
Mine was bought at Kutztown and has a bad handle (it's yellow tweed case), otherwise clean.
This one is interesting due to the action it saw, but then as a radio it is not worth much, not more than $40, and hough it's had to put price on history, it is too much plus the guy wanrs $92 fir shipping which is a bit crazy.
People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

That is a very cool radio with a ton of history, but it's going to go high and as Mike said the shipping is crazy.
Unfortunately the family it belonged to most likely had no one left who wanted it. Someone on ARF came up with this possible owner:

Perhaps when he was a POW another G.I. acquired the radio, but it's hard to say, but I do hope it goes to a good home. It seems like I recall seeing this same radio, or one marked up in almost the same style a couple of years ago on eBay.

funeral home (Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home) contacted this am,,, wtg for a return call so they can look up any local family member phone number and connect me with them. to be brutally honest, the woman sounded rather inconvenienced by my story and i am not confident i will get a call back.
Pawn shop in California contacted (orange pawn shop in orange california),, they are within a complicated window of less than 24hrs remaining on the bid and they have several bidders.,, however there are ways around this. the owner of the pawn shop did not sound too heavily impacted by the story of this radio and the prior owner or his service
in the meantime i am attempting to gain access to this set, repair and send to the family at no charge.
somebody has to give 2 cents
ive learned an important lesson here that reinforces the insults i have heard verbally come out of peoples face holes,,, that is..
"veterans think they are entitled". the two contacts i made today leave me feeling like this sad attitude is more of a reality than what i would have previously believed.

if anyone here has a bid on this set, and wins ,,
and.......... your intent is to get it back to the family then leave a comment to the seller like this
"bid consideration - prisoner of war - return to original family"
this will trigger the pawn shop EBay guy a certain way to react to the sell.
