PHILCO MODEL 16X CONSOLE RADIO VALUE
#1

HELLO: I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PHILCO MODEL 16X RADIO...I FOUND IT BURIED IN A PACKING BOX IN THE BASEMENT OF AN ESTATE SALE! I BELIEVE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN A LIMITED RUN IN LATE 1934. THE RADIO WORKS FINE EXCEPT THAT THE TUNER SLIPS WHEN CHANGING STATIONS. AND THE CABINET IS IN OVERALL GOOD SHAPE WITH SOME MINOR SCRATCHES ON THE SIDES. THERE IS A 6 INCH ROUND WATER SPOT ON THE TOP WHERE SOMEONE PROBABLY PLACED A PLANT YEARS AGO AND THE SHELLAC FLAKED OFF, HOWEVER, I AM REPAIRING THAT NOW.

I REALLY LIKE THE RADIO AND AM ENJOYING LISTENING TO IT AND CLEANING IT UP. HOWEVER, I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER WHAT THE VALUE IS IF I DECIDED TO LET IT GO?

ANYONE???

THANKS, SONNYBOY

Hi Sonny,
A 16X is just not worth as much as a 16B. I bought a 16X at an antique store about 3 years ago for $130. The cabinet was good condition, however the radio didn't work. Someone had tightened all "those loose screws". Icon_rolleyes After an alignment it came to life.
