47-1227 - Radio will not tune in any stations.
#1

I have a Philco model 47-1227.  It has been completely restored.  All capacitors and resistors have been replaced.  The audio works.  We get sound from the record player but unable to tune in any stations.  Have minis 2.5 volts at osc. tube. osc. tube  does not change voltage when tuning dial is changed.  No am or fm.  Any ideal what's wrong?  HELP!!!!!!!!?!

Time to break out the signal generator and inject a modulated 455kc signal @ test point A. This is w/the set set up to receive an AM signal and see what you get from the spkr.

figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

Ok inject a 455kc signal @ pin 1 of the 6ba6 and see what you get from the spkr.

Ok so you have a problem around the 6BA6. Check the pin voltages according t o the service info. Also be sure the heater is lit.

pin 1.    -.26 volts
pin 2.        0 volts
pin 3.        0 volts
pin 4.        0 volts
pin 5.    280 volts
pin 6.  -1.14 volts
pin 7.      .06 volts

Heater is lit
#11

filament should be pin 3 & 4 and pin 6 should be 100v
#12

pin 3 grounded at center of tube
pin 4 shows 6.6 volts ac
The tube is lit and working
#13

pin 6 should not be reading -1.14 it should be 100V check the resistors and capacitors in that circuit.
#14

Will check Tomorrow night.

Ok good luck.
