38-7C Questions
#1

Hi all,

This is my first time posting. As you can see by my name, I'm a complete radio noobie. I'm taking an electronics course to learn, but it's slow going.

Today I bought my first antique radio! I'm very excited. I'm hoping to restore it. Its a Philco 38-7C, and I paid $40.

Here is my first (and extremely noobish) question:

I think I understand how the conical dial works, after having done some reading. However, there are 3 knobs on the front of the radio which I don't understand. I know the right most dial is the volume knob. The middle one seems stuck, and the left one clicks in a few positions, but I'm not sure what it's function is.

Can anyone tell me what the left and middle dial are for?

Thanks guys, and I'm looking forward to learning more and contributing when I can.

Howdy! And Happy Holidays while we're at it... Icon_smile

Welcome to the Phorum. Here are the functions of the lower three knobs on your 38-7:

Off-On-Tone Control - Band Switch - Volume

I trust this will help.
