Bakelite restoration product available from UK
#1

Bakelite and other plastics polish that really works!!

It is called Bake-O-Bryte.  And it works great on all Bakelite and soft plastics.  It come in a tube about the same size as toothpaste, it does not take much to get a positive result.  Give it a try.

Here is a link... I hope this is cool to do.  This product is readily offered by "The Radiophile" and they recommend it. That's where I got it.

I will keep it in mind, I have quite a few bakelite sets. I use anything from GO JO to Meguiars Paste Wax. Always looking for options.

This stuff really kicks rump!  Yes, I use Johnson's Paste Wax in the final step.  Getting off the oxidation is where Bake-O-Bryte comes in.  It has been over few months and the finish on my bits and knobs sure does look swell!! Icon_biggrin Icon_biggrin

Buy the stuff, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!  Notes to the wise....(Don't use a Dremel on high speed setting...OWWZA!). Icon_eek Icon_eek   Use a cloth.

You do realize that the escutcheon of the 1941 Philco in the first picture, first post, is Tenite and not Bakelite, yes?

Other than that...thank you for informing us about Bake-O-Bryte. Icon_biggrin I have some knobs that could use the treatment...

Well, looks it is not available. Just tried the link and "product not found", then there is some kind of Bake-O-Bryte update alert. They are probably trying to figure out how to make it not work, like Brasso, WD40, etc.

If I could find the place called "Somewhere", I could find "Anything" Icon_confused

Here is an alternative: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GREYGATE-BAKELI...2090868955

I believe Greygate Bakelite Polish No. 5 is the same thing or similar. Unfortunately the fellow running the radiophile passed away. I got this note when I hit the "continue" button on the page.

"It is with great sadness that we need to record the death of Chas. E. Miller, proprietor and editor of The Radiophile. Please note that no new subscriptions to The Radiophile can be taken until further notice."

Here in return, is a factory link: http://www.greygate.com/product/paste-polishing-no-5/

Well, that would explain it. Sad to hear the news.
