Can I use a rooftop TV antenna with my Philco radio?
#1

Could I splice into an existing outside roof TV antenna and use it as my radio antenna for my 39-31- philco? I presently use the tv antenna for local channels!

The TV antenna itself is unlikely to help at all with the frequencies involved. But the downlead from it might help a bit, though it is still not ideal because the downlead is vertical and, these days, is generally coax. Using the shield of the coax as an antenna might be better than nothing?

Yes. the inner wire is shielded, but I've had pretty good luck using the shield as an AM antenna. Simply making contact with the metal connector will connect your radio antenna lead with the coax outer shield.

Thanks for the info Jepstro, I will give it a shot once I get the chassis repaired!!
