41-280 shortwave
#1

I bought a 41-280 radio that had been restored. The AM works great but I can't pick anything up on short wave or police bands. Didn't expect to get anything on police bands but it would be nice to listen to shortwave. Anyone have any ideas?

Make sure the buttons switches are ok, and the internal loop antenna connected correctly.
I know mine works on SW.
If all low ha ging fruits have been plucked and it still doesn't work, then you should start troubleshooting.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Clean the band switch with De Ox It.

What are you using for an antenna?

There are two factors here - an indoor antenna of a few feet of wire may not pick up much except a lot of interference. Second, depending on the design, the set might need the help of a good long-wire type aerial (at least, something set up outdoors) to get the best out of the higher frequency bands.

Good luck!
