Philco 60B Dial Scale Help
#1

Hello All,
Must be Philco 60 day looking at today's posts.  I have a 3rd Style, series iii 60 per the lineage on the Tube Radio Land site - http://www.tuberadioland.com/philco60_lineage.html.  This is the one with the larger dial escutcheon and dial scale.  Radio Daze does not cross reference the dials and mine is missing completely.  I would guess it is the 27-5082 since that is the next dial after a 27-5057 which is on the predecessor to my radio.  If someone could confirm the correct dial before I order, I would appreciate it.
thanks

What Code is your model? If you have the paperwork, or Rider's "Changes" info for that model, it should be easy to determine the proper part number....

Thanks for the replies.  First Jeff, I have a code 121 but it is well documented, including the Philco Forum Library, that the code 121 had various runs with poor documentation.  Further I found in the library this documented change:

"January 1, 1935:

Dial scale changed from Part No. 31-1090 to a larger scale, Part No. 31-1472. Model 60 sets received a new, larger escutcheon at this time to accommodate the larger dial scale."

The problem here is these part numbers do not match to anything.  All of the 6 reproduction scales always have the format 27-5XXX.  I also have a 3rd style, version 2 radio with original dial part number 27-5024 printed on it.  It definitely is smaller as I slid the chassis in the cabinet of my project and the scale fills only half of the window.  If you have any reference of the 31-1472 part number to a 27-5xxx format, it would help.

Jim - yes, planning to contact the Radiola guy today.  The history documents that they increased the font of the SW band to that of the BC band.  His 27-5082 appears to be that way.  My original 27-5024 scale has small font on the SW band and large on the BC.

With a little more research and help, we can figure this out.  Wish I had some remnant of the original but nothing there except eyelets with a little plastic under them.

Also Jim - thanks for reminding me about the Radiolaguy's dial.  He lists the OD of the dial at 4 3/4".  The 27-5024 is 4 1/4".  So just made a paper pattern and sure enough the larger OD fills the window.  The fonts on BC and SW are identical so going to call it a day and order from him.
thanks
Dave

Renovated Radios do carry what you need. As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM
