37-610 completed!

I had this one sitting in the basement for 20 years. The dial lettering was worn off, and there were stains on the top. I'm glad we had a break in the weather so I could spray. I'm bringing it to the swap meet next weekend. Here you go!

Nice!

One note: for a nice shiny cabinet you might want to clean the knobs: the grooves seem to harbor lots of dirt.

You aren't kidding about the knobs. You should have seen them before the toothbrush, soap & water. On to something a little stronger. Hate to think about whats stuck in those grooves after 80+ years. Icon_eek

Dipping it in Goop (GoJo) and brushing has some effect.
But, my best resu;lts were:

Take a needle or a sharp toothpick and simply push that schmutz out. Yes, groove by groove.
Then GoJo and then soapy water.

Not sure as I have not done this, have a friend who uses an ultra sonice jewelry cleaning machine. Swears by it, i have seen the results, clean as a whistle.

Yep, I’ll be taking them off and working them over. I think getting as much out when the knob is dry is the best starting point.

I am sure Ultrasonic machines work, it's a matter of having one.

Be careful doing knobs with the ultra sonic cleaner. DO NOT use the heat function or anything like Simple Green in with the water or you may discolor or deform the knobs. A little diluted dishwater soap will do the job just fine or even just the water itself.

That said, those cheap ultra sonic cleaners that Harbor Freight has work very well for tuning caps, knobs, etc. Think I paid $30 for mine and it has more than paid for itself over the years.

I was able to clean the knobs. I used a small blunt tool to lightly scrape out the dirt, then back to the tooth brush soap and water. Worked great! This was the first radio that sold at the swap meet!

Congrats.
Also, you could use a sharp toothpick (not those triangular cross-section soft ones) and then you do not have to be light about scraping.
