Question on this. I've got the block out; how do I get it apart? It looks like the caps are held in with a wax or glue. I've gotten the base plate apart from the rest of the case, but I need to either get the caps released from the case (heating?) or cut the wires and dig them out mechanically.
Advice?

I just did my 87 and 77. What I did was holding the canister wearing a heavy welders glove, heated it all around with a high temp heat gun and shook it up and down. After a couple of minutes, the condenser block fell out. I cleaned the case painted it w/glossy black lacquer, soldered the new caps. to lower inside plate portion, and put it back together. No body will be the wiser. Good luck.

I use a heat-gun in similar fashion to removing the guts from bakelite block caps.
