Philco Tombstone Model Number?
#1

I won in an auction a great condition thirties tombstone radio for $28! I believe it to be a Philco 620B  model, but not sure. The labels are missing and there is no Philco decal on the front. The chassis has some differences to the pictures on the net. It has a plug-in speaker connector instead of hard-wired. Above the dial window is a peculiar "light box" with at least 2 bulbs in it. There are several differences in the parts/wiring than other chassis.

I wonder if its not even a genuine Philco brand.

Any ideas you'd care to share?

Hi,

It's actually a 630B - notice the shadowmeter above the dial.

Very nice catch, especially for $28! Icon_thumbup

Those are good sets when they are working properly, at least my 620 was, I think it's basically the same set without the shadow meter.

You stole that radio! Great stroke of luck! That coming from a guy that's not even partial to tombstones. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

P.S. That chevron speaker cloth is a little "louder" than the factory weave, but was put in well.
