Philco 60, stripping. -Follow-up-
#1

Here are pictures of the front panel.

There was definitely "something" done to the cabinet sometime in the past. It took 3 complete stripping (with a 15 minutes acting time) to get rid of the dark brown goo. I have never used more than two steps to get rid of any original lacquer. Looking closely to the grain, it is apparent stain was part of the aftermarket "refinish" product.

The finished cabinet will stay a bit darker than reference pictures from Ron's site but that is Ok. I am stripping the sides and top as I write this. Color is similar to front panel.

Have a look at that crooked "L" from the philco sticker...

A few splinters to fix then a first coat of lacquer if weather permits this week.

Now the radio died on me. Darn, must be a tube...where did I put that tube tester again...?

It is on the back burner for now. Moving in a few weeks. Hopefully will have more time to devote to the hobby.

Hello Syl:

I don't see any photos attached to your post.

I had the settings for attachments set too low. This issue has now been corrected.

Syl, whenever you get a chance, feel free to post the pics...and I apologize for the difficulty you experienced in doing this previously. Oh, and good luck with the move!
