Grunow 1191 Chassis 11G
#1
Photo

I have just finished restoring this Grunow 1191.  The labels on the rear of the chassis were mostly missing, having been torn and mostly pealed off.  Does anyone have one of these radios with intact labels?  If so, can you take a high resolution, straight on photo so that I can try and reproduce them? Thanks!

This radio is now working beautifully and is back in the home of the owner.  Interestingly, while working on it, I bought the exact same radio at a local garage sale for $10! The radio on this one is in better shape but the cabinet is worse.  Since the first one was still fresh in my mind, I decided to restore the second chassis as well.  It is also working perfectly except for the volume control has a bit of an issue.  Not only that, the labels are in good shape so I was able to print copies for the first radio - the purpose of my original post!!

On the first Grunow, someone had remove the geared tuning drive with the logging pointer.  Tuning was actually faster, but much more touchy on short wave tuning. On the second one, it is intact and working perfectly with a new belt.  this one had most of the original capacitors so I was able to re-stuff them.  All resistors were way out of spec and replaced.  Not sure what I'm going to do with the cabinet.  It's kind of bad.
