Video Source for Predicta
#1

Just had one of my 3 Predicta's fixed.
(The later 17" model that probably lived in a Holiday Inn way back when.)

I need to get a DVD or BluRay Player to feed video into the TV.
I plan to attach a Balun to where the antenna leads are; then a player to the Balun.

Wondering if anyone can suggest a good unit to feed into the set?
I guess any DVD or BluRay Player would work.
Just wondered if anyone had any other thoughts or a specific unit to recommend.

Thanks!

Hi Matt,

DVD and Blu-Ray players typically lack an RF connection. In Addition, Blu-Ray players are almost all "ATSC", the new Hi Def digital TV as opposed to NTSC, the standard used from the origination of Post WWII commercial TV to about 2009. In addition, Blu-Ray players have "HDMI outputs as opposed to composite video outputs of NTSC equipment. Therefore, a matching transformer (such as a balun) are of no help here.

However, fear not. NTSC RF Modulators are available on eBay. These will allow the use of a DVD Player with any analog TV. 75 Ohm to 300 Ohm matching transformers have been available for years, first used en mass by cable companies, and will match the RF Modulator to the TV. HDMI to NTSC adaptors are also available that will allow you to watch a Blu-Ray DVD Player on an NTSC TV Set. I don't have a specific brand to recommend. TV is still sent "Over the Air. HDTV to NTSC Analog TV convertors are available and were first sold to prevent the obsolescence of the millions of analog TV sets in use at the time of the forced conversion to digital TV.

You can also source a used VCR and use that as a modulator to feed your DVD source into.

If I could find the place called "Somewhere", I could find "Anything" Icon_confused
