Picked this up today. Works ok on FM and SW.
Broadcast AM seemed dead but exercising the bandswitch and it works now. Otherwise complete with antenna and interior book and a working dial light.
I’ll have to read up on this model to see what needs doing.

That’s very helpful. Thanks. It was a little much at $60, but the condition really good. I just wanted something for my office for AM talk radio.
I’ll get to rehabbing this once I get through the four or five Philcos I have waiting for service.
I think I own three other Transoceanics. The last one was $25 at a yard sale.

$60.00 is not a bad price, especially for a partially working one. Chrome looks pretty good too, MUCH better than mine. These are rather collectible. I hear that the 1000s and 3000s are desirable but the 7000, the last of these are a little bit of a doggie and are not US built, so seems to me that you scored!
Considering that the set is 60 years old, consider changing all of the electrolytics. If using in a car with an adaptor, remember that this is a Positive Ground set. All the transistors are PNP germanium.
I have 2 TOs, this 3000 and an 8G005. However, I have the 6G001 also. IMHO, the 8G005 is rather desirable as its heritage to the 1942 "Clipper / Bomber" set is close. True, the slide rule dials on the newer sets and the spare tube clips are cool but... Besides, the 8G005 is cheaper than the 500, 600 and others.

Hello BridKarl,
I hear you I too have a lot of radios I have over 200 sets that is counting my transistor radios . I have the Zenith with the sail boat on the grille cloth too . one the Zeniths that I sold years ago that wish I would kept was zenith with the bomber .
Those are pretty collectible, they always sell when brought to a swap meet. They perform like Zeniths so even if you could find a portable today it would not play as well. C Crane radios are almost 200.00 new! I did get an Eton from Universal radio when they were selling off stuff for 99.00. I think for portables going back in the time machine may be a good route, Zeniths like yours or a good Super Radio.
The Eton I got is a fine set....they even have and Eton Sattelitt which makes me wonder if they bought a Grundig name-Sattelitt? Here is one very similar to mine.
I have more than I need. Probably at least 15 units waiting to be worked on.
With prices and tariffs - both for sets and parts - better to stock up. What I see people wanting online for stuff is stupid high.
This is at the fair this morning - a 1947 National
Union G-617. Hard to see but the case is terrible and I’m sure it wasn’t electronically restored. Won a ribbon. I need to enter something and just blow them away.

So this radio, my Atlas has same Chassis but different case than that NU Radio that won the prize. They were made by same Company, notice the exact same paint colors on dial. I think the label inside was Ajax Radio New Jersey. 6 tuber not bad, I always wanted the National Union model but online they are way overpriced. So I hope I stumbled on one soon.
Paul, nice radio, nice finish on the cabinet. The Truetone that you had in the Flickr file was even nicer. Love table radios with 8" speakers.
For a while, about maybe 15-20 years ago, Eton was marketing radios with the Grundig name. I have to assume that they had licensed the name from Grundig. I have the G8Traveler II. the manual states "Designed in Palo Alto, California, UAS, made in China (where else?), almost like Apple products which states "Designed in Cupertino, CA, made in China".

The Eton branded replacement:
This is a rather nice radio. With earphones, FM is in stereo. Nice world clock function, and of course, no World Band radio would be complete without a map of the world.
There is a thread on a Grundig by member with current Grundig website and products, and a Wikipedia page. Grundig may have TV and audio, but since their 2003 bankruptcy), they were taken over by a Turkish appliance conglomerate. Grundig's current products are mostly "White Goods" (Kitchen and laundry appliances.
I recently went looking in stores for an AM-FM portable with basic knob style operation such as AM-FM switch, volume / on-off knob and tuning knob with slide rule scale from a known brand such as Sony, Panasonic, Aiwa, or even RCA, GE, Phillips, etc. for an older friend's birthday. These don't exist. The only thing I can find is "Retro" stye radios with brands like Studebaker, Crosley, etc., of high price and questionable quality. Everything else is either complex (like the Kaito KA29, a very feature-full radio at a cheap price, receiving all bands and FM stereo, can record and play MP3s but extremely difficult to use.) or relatively inexpensive but poor performing. Seems that the major age demographics listen to music only via Bluetooth products connected to their phones. Even iPods are things of the past.
