Philco Type-024 Signal Generator
#1

I recently found a Type-024 Signal Generator that needs restoration. Does anyone have a schematic? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Scott

Hello and welcome.
This might help you out.

Please do not use Radiomanual.info. The copy there was stolen from here, as only the Philco Phorum has the right to use my scan of that document. Radiomanual.info is a site that posts all contributions without regard to whether or not they have the right to post them.

The only legitimate copy of my scan is right here at:

Sorry about that Dale. Did not know someone had stolen your scan. I removed it.
I had looked in the Philco library and just missed it.

For anything Philco you should always recommend checking our Philco Library first. I am among those who have scanned our printed materials for posting in our library. In addition to the Philco 1944 test equipment manual I have also contributed scans of my manuals for the 5072 Crosshatch Generator (useful only for analog TV service), the 7001 Electronic Service Master (essentially a VTVM on steroids), the 7019 Junior Scope (an audio frequency oscilloscope), the 7030 Dynamic Tester (a multi-function signal tracer with speaker), and the 7030 RF Signal Generator (100 kHz to 110 MHz).

Hello swarten,
Welcome and if you have any more questions feel free to ask We have a lot great people like Dale here to help others .

What kind of condition is your Signal Generator in?

Sincerely Richard

Swarten -

If you need any advice on restoring your Type 024 just ask here. The is really not much that could go wrong with it as it is the simplest of the Philco signal generators of that period.

Thanks to everyone for your help and interest. My dad worked at the RCA color TV plant in Memphis from 1968-72. One Christmas, he brought home a color TV he manufactured at the plant. That led me to get a PhD in electrical engineering with a focus on semiconductors. I have an electronics lab set up in my basement where I still work on this stuff. Obviously I need therapy. I've met others in electronics whose dads worked at RCA and GE mfg. plants across the US. The exposure filters down.

To get back to your question, it's in average shape. I worked on this awhile but have too many projects on my bench so I asked Alberto at Atomic Tube to help out. He can get the A frequency range to oscillate but not the other band. Regrettably, the schematic seems to be a general guideline which is somewhat apparent. If anyone has more detailed info on this particular model, it would definitely help. Glad to see others keeping the faith. It makes a bigger difference than you think.

If you dig antique radio maybe enjoy some antique content, Saturday Nite Big Bands Crooners and Croonettes....stream WJIB.com, on now. Good luck with your projects. Paul
