Philco 20 Lowboy grill cloth
#1

I just acquired a Philco model 20 console lowboy from 1930.  The grill cloth is shot but I have a small piece of it.  I can't find anything that looks like it on the grill cloth sites.  Does anyone know what the original looked like?  I am attaching a picture of what I pulled off of the radio.

Philco 20 recommended #26.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

I was hoping to find the original but that will have to work!

Thanks a lot!

There is no original short of someone having parted out a cabinet with good cloth.

This is the recommended sub pattern. There are others from other vendors but they are all very similar.

Thanks, I understand that so I will be ordering the #26

FOrgot. I missed the fact yours is a console not the Baby Grand.

This is my 20 console, and I replaced the cloth.
The very first ever radio I restored.

Here's a pic of mine for what it's worth.

Now I think I've got it!

That's a nice little console, I think they used to market those as "Consolettes". I have a G.E S-42A that is of s similar format, and a Deforest Crosley "Voyager", which is a few years newer, but is still a small console. Contrary to what that German guy in Chilliwack thinks, there is no evidence that these small consoles were marketed with children's use in mind, that would have bee a very limited market indeed.

I think they put it out next year after the Baby Grand version of the 20.
Two versions of the front grill: this and the one I have.
