Silvertone Radio Chassis 101-583 2
#1

I am restoring the chassis to my Sears Silvertone radio. Chassis number 101 583-2 but I have 2 wires on the top of the chassis that I don't know where they connect. I attached a photo below. I just can't see where they would hook up to other than the terminal block on the back labeled 'A"  and " D". Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I would hazard a guess and say those wires probably went to a loop antenna. That trimmer cap on the chassis with those wires looks like it would be used to get peak reception from the antenna.

As Ron said, they would go to a loop antenna.  That trimmer capacitor is C1 according to the service information:

Silvertone 6438B Schematic

That chassis was used in a few radio models, the 6438B being one.  The loop antenna is the gold colored device mounted inside the lower left side of the cabinet when looking from the rear:

Thank all of you. I see it now how it hooks to the antenna on the lower left. Then that loops over from the antenna to the (my guess is a distortion device?) on the lower right, then the wires from those connect to the terminal block on the back of the chassis labeled
A & D

You should be able to trace the other end of the wires, determine what they are connected to and find those connections on the schematic.

No distortion device on the antenna circuit. The signal from the antenna is having trouble staying distortion free at this point. The terminal D is for a long wire antenna connection, then you connect D to A to use the long wire. Typically used in rural areas or for short wave reception.
